Handler started acting to earn some money. However, when she was aged 21, Handler decided to pursue standing-up comedy on a regular basis, after she discovered her storytelling talents. Handler made her debut on the Oxygen Network's Girls Behaving Badly show, which featured a reality TV show that had a hidden-camera/practical joke. Between 2002 and 2005, the show was aired. The handler then began appearing in several other shows like Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was also a an assistant for The Tonight Show. Handler's biggest breakthrough was in 2006, when she began hosting her program on E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran for a total of two seasons. Handler also performed in America in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up performances. Her name was chosen as the host of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in 2010. As a result, she was the only female host to host the awards, following Roseanne.
